Cheers with a little Ocean Vodka

Ocean Breeze VodkaCheers from camp. We spent another couple days at the CPHC this past weekend and I was lucky to get a four point buck. While getting him processed into the cooler we took a time out.

The time out was to try something new that came to my attention recently and I was sent a sample of it – Organic Ocean Vodka. This Hawaiian product is made from organic sugar cane in Maui. To go along with it I came across some locally made bloody mary mix at a downtown Pensacola outdoor market before heading to camp – Vicki’s Wicked Potions “Bloody Brew” which is called “evilicious” and made with creole spices. Wow. Mmm good. Here’s where you can find Ocean Vodka near you.

You can expect that since we not only love to hunt but to eat and enjoy a good beverage that you’re going to be finding some ideas on these subjects as well.

Organic Ocean Vodka

For more than seven years, the Smith Family has worked diligently to bring their special Ocean Vodka from the Island of Maui to the far reaches of the world. The opening of a new craft distillery for public tours and tastings on their 80-acre organic farm is a dream come true for the family’s mission: to create a superior, organic, value-added agricultural product from Hawaii that supports the local economy, competes globally on quality, operates with environmental responsibility and raises awareness for oceanic conservation.

Ocean Vodka is the only spirit in the world distilled from organically farmed sugar cane, blended with deep ocean mineral water and powered by the sun. Certified USDA Organic and 100% gluten-free, Ocean Vodka uses a proprietary column distillation process to produce an ultra-clean, award-winning spirit. This pure refined spirit is blended with deep ocean mineral water, sourced from a depth of 3,000 feet off the Kona Coast of the Big Island, to make Ocean Vodka. Minerals Calcium, magnesium and potassium, which naturally occur in ocean water, give Ocean Vodka a unique, mineral-rich flavor found in no other vodka. These minerals create a pleasant, distinctive taste and enhance flavors when Ocean Vodka is mixed with fresh juices.

First Hunt Days in the Bag

Leaving CampCamp was packed up and the area was policed by Joe and we loaded the New Holland Rustler to go home for a while. We’ll be back in a couple weeks and hopefully the food plots will be growing.

We did more work on the property this year than we ever will again in order to prepare it for deer hunting. It was some hard work but will be well worth it in years to come.

Over the coming weeks I’ll be letting you get to know more about the New Holland Rustler and how it performs in some wild conditions as well as getting to know more about our hunt club members. The photo album is mostly up to date with photos I have. There are still some I’ve got to get from Paul and Gary to add to them. I hope you enjoy them. They give you a good idea of what camp life is like.

Another Camp Work Day

http://www.flickr.com/photos/22968780@N05/sets/72157635109940381/Our first 2013 Rustler Hunt days are coming to a close as we pack up today and head home. But we’re not done. We’ll be back in a couple weeks.

Yesterday we did a work day on this new lease property. Work consisted of putting up No Trespassing signs and seeding and fertilizing food plots. Paul is the master ATV seeder/spreader since he has also had a fire ant control business. We seeded 5 food plots yesterday and if we get some rain we’ll have some rye grass started before we get back.

I’ve got more stories to share but am running out of data in my hotspot plan so I’ll be back after I get back home.

CPHC Members with Rustler

CPHC MembersWe’ve had beautiful weather here at the CPHC.

This is the Crystal Pig Hunt Club membership. L-R Gary, Eli, Paul, Joe, Luke, Me. The New Holland Rustler is a highlight feature of The Rustler Hunt. This bad boy has gone over creeks, logs, stumps. The Rustler is like Honey Badger. He don’t care!

Our first weekend saw mixed results. We saw lots of does and two are in the cooler. However, we’ve seen only two small bucks. Seems like the rut hasn’t started yet. But we’ve got a couple days to go still . . .

First Deer in Camp

First Deer in CampIt’s the first day of the Georgia Crystal Pig Hunt Club deer hunt! It has been a good morning so far. I got the first camp meat, this nice doe. I saw another one and couple turkeys come down off their roost.

I got off my stand and drove over to the deer and loaded it on the New Holland Rustler. Thank you New Holland. Great machine! After putting this one in the cooler I’m getting ready to head on out to the afternoon hunt.

Last Prep Day

Bulldozer WorkIt’s the final set up day at the CPHC. Yesterday we had a bulldozer working all day running a firebreak all the way around the property. Kind of like a 4-wheeler highway so we can get around! It’s also a deer highway judging from the tracks we’ve seen.

We might get a little rain today but that would be okay to settle the dust down and put out so smoldering remains of the wood piles.

Tomorrow will be our first day on stands so I won’t be online much if any. I got my climber set up yesterday and can’t wait to sit in it.

Hills on Fire

Burning Wood PilesThe Crystal Pig Hunt club property recently had the trees harvested and the leftovers bulldozed into piles. This is the week to burn the piles and it made for quite a sight during the evening hours last night.

So the 2013 Rustler Hunt is commencing as we do final preparations for some serious woods hunting. We’re into the rut so our timing is perfect as the bucks are chasing the does! Many sightings already.

I’ll probably be doing most of my postings after the hunt is over next week but will try to update you when time allows over the next few days.

From the Archives

Missouri Hunt 2010Before the official Crystal Pig Hunt Club was formed we hunted near Pilot Grove, MO for many years. This is a photo from our hunt in 2010, one of our last ones on that property. We are now located in central Georgia and have one addition to the group. More about that later when we meet the hunters.

Pictured (l-r) are Luke Zimmerman, Gary Cooper, Eli Zimmerman, yours truly Chuck Zimmerman and Paul Zimmerman. We’ve got a lot of memories from hunts that go back a lot of years. I’ll periodically pull from our archives some photos and stories for you.
